The original dedication was held on September 10, 1994. At that time, approximately $60,000 was raised to fund the memorial-the granite and the bronze statue alone cost approximately $30,000. In 2021, the old gong from the Summit Avenue station was restored and hung by Anderson Welding and installed next to the Memorial.

In 2022, a single-masted, nautical flagpole was installed during "Work Sunday" to display the American flag, a POW flag, and the FWFC flag.

In 2023, additional pavers were installed to tie-in the gong and the flagpole to the memorial. In addition, lighting upgrades and re-wiring were done by Life Member Lee Champlain. The memorial committee also had 5 new wreaths made, one for each season, as well as an additional wreath to display during Christmas. The wreaths were designed and created by Halo & Honey Wreath Company of Glenside.

In 2025, member Matt Lesniak designed, welded and painted a new wreath stand for the front of the Memorial to display the new wreaths. In addition, a granite monument was designed and purchased from De Christopher Brothers Memorials out of Rockledge and installed under the gong. Lastly, the landscaping around the Memorial was re-designed and installed under the direction of Life Member Pete Williams.

Thank you to our Memorial Committee, who spent many years planning and preparing the upgrades to our Memorial.

Chairman - Ed Hurt

Committee members Stu Pennypacker, Lee Champlain, John Reilley, Pete Williams, and Rich Myers.

We'd also like to acknowledge the original committee members, who's vision shaped this project so many years ago:

Bob Ochotny - Chair

Members-Marlin Miller, George Haggar, William Gouak, Arthur Haggar, Bill Braun, Bill Nuss, John Reilley, and Mike Duffy.
