Fort Washington Fire Company
Training Facility

Formally dedicated in 1972, our fire training center was built entirely by the members of the fire company, led by Chief George Haggar. We are both fortunate and very proud to have our own training facility.

This facility has trained many of our members over the years, along with countless members from numerous neighboring departments. Our fire training center has allowed the Fort Washington Fire Company to continue as one of the most proficient, well-trained fire companies in the area.  Some of the key features of the training center include:
  • 2-Story Burn Building – Has movable walls and allows us to train for a variety of scenarios we may encounter.  The building features an interior stairwell, a side entrance to the second floor with an exterior stairwell, and a rear entry to the second floor that permits training on basement fire scenarios.  The building has an attached heater that allows addition of heat to the training evolution.

  • Drafting Pit – Allows pump operators to practice drafting as well as performing annual service tests on our engines.

  • Propane Gas Area – Allows fire fighters to utilize hoselines to displace gas and shut off valves.

  • Drill Tower – Used for aerial operations as well as rope rescue and high-angle scenarios.

  • Confined Space Simulation – Teaches members to use air monitoring equipment as well as harnesses, tripods, etc.
