continued: This year we are also looking forward to purchasing and placing in service a new Rescue Pumper. This truck will replace the 1987 Mack truck we currently have. The Rescue Pumper is the fire truck we use to respond to vehicle fires and vehicle rescues. It will be outfitted with a new set of hydraulic rescue tools (Jaws of Life) that are stronger and more powerful than our current tools, allowing us to perform rescues faster and easier on today’s cars that are built with stronger and harder metals. In accordance with national standards, the Fire Company also plans on training and certifying our members to the National Fire Fighting II level. Because firefighting can be a very hazardous job, our firefighters are always in training to improve safety. Much of this training is done on our regular Monday night drills. As we are always looking for new members we hope some of our residents will be interested in joining us in 2008. Being a firefighter is very exciting. The camaraderie and friendships made as a member of the Firehouse last a lifetime. Every time we respond to a call or meet for training, we are drawn together as a unit and work together as a team. If actual firefighting is not for you, there are many other opportunities to serve. We welcome anyone to come down to the fire house on any Monday night at 6:45 PM and find out what the Fort Washington Fire Company is all about. Thank you for your interest in the Fire Company and have a safe year in 2008. Bob Toner
