The objectives of the physical skills revolve around fire attack, hose movement, hose management, and hose handling. Students are taught these skills using a system built around mechanical advantage and several recurring principles. Intellectually, the objectives of the class are fire attack theory, cooling theory, and the “whys” of engine operations.
