Bill Gift continued: In addition to serving on the Board, Bill is still a company photographer, member of the Information Systems Committee, Accreditation Committee, and the Grant Committee. Thanks to his efforts on the Grant Committee, over $198,000 in equipment including radios, thermal Imaging cameras, and air filtering systems have been purchased — saving the Upper Dublin taxpayers these expenses. Bill enjoys mentoring younger, upcoming fire company leaders. He brings extensive knowledge and experience to the Fire Company table and is in the process of passing it along to the next generation. At the annual Awards Banquet in February, Bill was this year’s recipient of the much coveted Haggar Award for service to the Fire Company above and beyond the line of duty. On March 21st of this year, Bill became a heart transplant recipient at Hahnemann Hospital; he came through with flying colors despite this extensive procedure. While still on a reduced work schedule, Bill keeps current with his many interests. Although he was unable to attend the first monthly meeting after surgery, he was virtually in attendance through a Skype computer video conference connection. Bill once asked his doctor whether he was a Type A personality, His doctor replied, “No, you are an AAA personality!”
